In April, 1973,Community Baptist Church was incorporated. Rev. Richard Conrod served as Pastor from inception until 1990. Rev. Daniel Holland served as the Pastor of Community Baptist Church having accepted the church’s call to that position in January, 1991, and served until his death in August, 2012. Youth Pastor, Phillip Smith, served as Interim Pastor until called as Senior Pastor in May, 2013.
After much prayer and preparation, Community Christian School was begun after Labor Day, 1979, having been delayed one day because of Hurricane David. A day care program through 12th grade was in place using the ACE curriculum. Community Christian Academy has been in continuous operation as a ministry of Community Baptist Church since 1979.
The school switched from ACE to a traditional classroom in 1983 using the A-Beka curriculum and some materials from Bob Jones University. The first full-time administrator/principal for Community Christian School was Mr. Joseph Negron who served until 1994. The school’s name was changed to Community Christian Academy in 2005.
Accreditation has been in place through Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (1999-2003 and 2007-present) and Association of Christian Schools International (2003-2007).
In 2002, we began an Exceptional Student Educational Program allowing us to accept McKay funding for students with specific learning disabilities who wished to transfer from the public school system to private education. It includes intensive teaching one-on-one by ESE staff at the elementary and middle school levels as well as academic modifications by high school teaching staff at the direction of the ESE Director.
Early Stay and Extended Stay Programs are in place from 7AM – 5:30PM.
Teaching staff is degreed and certified through Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.
Affiliation with Florida High School Athletic Association affords the opportunity to provide and participate in a wide range of sports for middle and high school students. The school has its own baseball and soccer field. High school basketball is played on the court of a local public school facility.
A Fine Arts Program is in place with art, drama, vocal and instrumental instruction as well as opportunities to participate in local and statewide Fine Arts competitions.
